Boiler and Water Heater Combos in Washington DC and Rockville MD
Often times, replacing an old heating system with a newer, more efficient one can be just as exciting as renovating a room or buying new furniture. With technology continuing to advance and create better heating systems all the time, how do you find the one that’s right for you and your family’s needs?
A combination boiler and water heater may just be the answer. People have been relying on combination boiler and water heaters for more than 15 years to use less energy and take up less space. If you’re looking for a heating system that fits in a small area but still want to reap the benefits of a hard-working heating system, the staff at Jimmy Gusky can install a state-of-the-art boiler and water heater combo.
What is a combination boiler and water heater?
Unlike more traditional heating systems, combination boiler and water heaters do not store hot water. Instead, they heat water directly from the mains and contain a second heating circuit to provide hot water on demand. They also don’t require a hot water cylinder, making it easier to fit them into small spaces within the home.
With a combination boiler and water heater, there is no need to wait for the water to “heat up” in the cold winter months. These units are also more efficient than other water heating systems, which will save you money on your energy bill.
As with other heating and cooling systems, it’s important to stay up to date on maintenance and repairs. If you notice any issues with your combination boiler and water heater, we encourage you to reach out to our knowledgeable staff to attend to any potential issues. With proper maintenance, your combination boiler and water heater will function beautifully for years to come.
What size boiler do I need?
We always encourage our clients to speak with a professional when making decisions regarding your heating and cooling systems, so feel free to give us a call to discuss the size and type of system that will work best for you. However, to give you an idea of the different sizes of combination boiler and water heaters, we recommend:
- A 24 to 27kw combination boiler for most apartments and smaller houses with up to 10 average-sized radiators and 1 bathroom
- A 28-34kw combination boiler for a larger, 3-4 bedroom house with up to 15 radiators and 2 bathrooms
- A 35-42kw combination boiler for a larger house with up to 20 radiators and 2 bathrooms
Also note that combination boilers do not work well with two showers that run at the same time. Adjustments can be made on properties where this occurs. Call us to learn more about the right size for your home.
